Oxford is an architectural treasure and zealously guards and protects its heritage while proudly boasting one of the finest collections of  historical buildings in the United Kingdom and possibly across the Western World.

This 90-120 minute walking tour covers a range of civic buildings, churches, university colleges, private Victorian homes, hotels, and historic monuments, taking  in almost 1000 years of architectural history.

Between the 16th and 18th centuries, as the university and the city expanded, medieval halls, inns and shops were overhauled and replaced with new prestigious buildings.  Competition among architects and stone masons was fierce.

A 30 minute breather at the Rose and Crown, a  traditional public house in North Oxford is an optional extra at no extra cost.
